Little Moments

You looked at me straight in the eye, and said, "I just got called, I'll be flying to Toronto today." You grabbed my arm, fingers wrapped tightly around my wrist. A slight pull, I was closer to you than I ever was. You were feeling panicky and annoyed. I was concerned, but I also couldn't gaze right at you, the distance was too close. I was covertly thrilled, but also outwardly freaked out by your sudden display of touching.

You leaned forward and rested your forehead on my left shoulder. We were one step away, but I didn't think I have the courage, anyway. You were still annoyed about the call, you pulled back up, and said something to me again. I didn't catch what you said, but I remember your expression. A mix of nervousness and exhaustion. And then that little moment ended.

I felt happy, in an extremely sad way. Because I know deep down, these little moments are all that I probably will ever get.

If You Could Kill That Person, Would You?

For a period of probably a few months, I stopped watching CSI regularly on Monday nights. In order to spend more time with friends on Mabinogi, I decided to skip the TV show. But now that everyone is starting to move on with their lives (i.e. we're not students anymore!), I suddenly really miss relaxing in front of the TV to enjoy a good show after a long day. Taking a break from the show was positive in that everything about CSI feels refreshing, and makes it easier for me to simply enjoy the TV show. Out of the 3 series of CSI, I've always though New York was the one that didn't go too far or make exaggerations in comparison with Miami, but it is relatively new compared to the other two series.

This week, both episodes left me feeling quite depressed and frustrated about the world. I prefer this more than simply the sense of satisfaction at catching the culprit. It makes one really ponder about the society we reside in, and the all the unfairness or ugly sides that exist just outside of our scope.

Once upon a time

And you know, I loved this girl in that all-consuming, passionate, possessive way that marks so many first loves. And all through high school, although we both dated guys from time to time, I never once felt like there was any guy in her life who meant more to her than I did.
Until there was.
And what I felt then was not just the usual agony you feel when the person you love falls in love with someone else. It was the realization that she was moving away from me into the world of "real" relationships, and I had absolutely no way to compete with the crushing load of societal, cultural, religious, governmental, and family expectations and rewards that came with being in a heterosexual relationship.

And I got over it. Did you??

I don't get you. And this time, I can't forgive you.
