I usually view only one anime series per season (sometimes not even finishing one), and I was convinced into watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica for this winter season. I saw this particular series in the preview articles, and it didn't catch my eye at all. The art is too moe for me, and I'm personally not very interested in the mahou shoujo genre. The only anime that I watched in this genre was Cardcaptor Sakura, and that's like years ago.
Okay, so how was I convinced? I read some interesting speculations and reactions to this series from various aniblogs, but that wasn't enough to push me into watching it. Instead, my friends in Mabinogi gave such interesting reactions after watching 3 episodes of Madoka Magica that I decided to watch it.

anime related
Well, I should say that I am a fan of anime in general. The truth is that I haven't really watched that many anime series, but I am an avid reader of anime reviews/previews/thoughts/critics and I also enjoy anime music, especially original soundtracks. I love reading snarky as well as witty comments concerning anime, and I thoroughly enjoy the sarcasm and irony there-in that not everyone can understand or appreciate.
I guess the only crowd of friends that I can talk anime with is my high school friends and online friends. I'm not saying that we are anime fanatics or otakus; in fact, I think not all of us really identify ourselves that way. We are just able to include anime and manga into daily conversation. I have always wondered why anime/manga fans are viewed in a negative way in the society at large. Most people think of anime fans or otakus as a crowd of awkward and awkwardly dressed people. While there are many people who fit in that particular stereotypical view, the thing is that we're not all like that.

Sasameki Koto 13 [Final]
I just finished the first season of Sasameki Koto, and I thought it was really good, really really GOOD!! What a coincidence it is that these 13 episodes came to an end on volume 2 of the manga, which is exactly the same as the progress of the manga licensed in Taiwan. I didn't really read onward, even though there are scans available online. Maybe I should catch up on the manga, and I am a little more intrigued as to what happens afterwards concerning the story after I finished this season one of the anime. I am definitely looking forward to the second season, and I hope the quality will remain this good! The anime pretty much stayed faithful to the plot of the manga, with the exception of ep. 11, but that was also a pleasant episode. The art is great, I mean it is a lot more detailed and looks better than the manga, which is the first positive sign of a decent adaptation. A lot more attention was paid to the background in the anime, meaning that most people had a face complete with eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Lol. And side characters like Azusa, Akemiya, Tomoe, and Miyako were inserted into the background, making appearances even before they were to enter the main plot. Kiyori was much more detailed and looks more like a real character, she was like a part of the background a lot in the manga.

Meaningful Anime?
I guess the few meaningful things that I've done all winter vacation was driving lessons and watch anime. LOL I usually only watch one series once in a while for very random reasons like stumbling upon them on the web or it was just a whim. And I usuall choose to watch finished anime because I don't like to wait, it makes me feel like an idiot when I'm sitting in front of the TV or computer pining for the next episode. Well, I've broken that rule as well. *shrugs*
Let me see... all the anime series that I've finished on the computer are: Moyashimon, Toshokan Wars, Ga-Rei -Zero-, Strawberry Panic, CANAAN, Kara No Kyoukai movies 1&2, Marimite Season 4, and Minami-Ke all 3 seasons.
There are also some that I dropped for no apparent reason: Higurashi, Burst Angel, Kanazuki No Miko, Madlax, El Cazador, etc. Most of these are pretty famous yuri-wise, but I couldn't focus on any of them and lost my interest. I watch anime mostly for entertainment and self-amusement, so critics and reviews don't really affect my opinion on what to watch. Though I have to admit that reading anime review blogs is one of my favorite Internet past-times.
